經(jīng)典翻譯技巧——專利英語的翻譯技巧 1.遇有apparatus、device、means三字或其特征是任兩個(gè)字出現(xiàn)在同一份說明書中時(shí)，建議其譯名分別如下：
(i) apparatus；arrangement：裝置 (ii) device：器件 (iii) means：構(gòu)件 *** 但若未出現(xiàn)在同一份說明書中時(shí)，則均可譯成裝置 2. et al.：等人 3. 翻譯means for V＋ing時(shí)在means前面加適當(dāng)?shù)闹凶g修飾詞，以免同一份中文說明書中出現(xiàn)多個(gè) "裝置" 時(shí)，不知究竟指的是那一個(gè)。 4. this invention, the subject invention, the instant invention, the present invention 一律譯成"本發(fā)明" 5. substantially：應(yīng)視前后文譯為"實(shí)質(zhì)上"、"幾乎完全"、"相當(dāng)"、或"大體上"，例如: a. the barrier layer contains a material that is substantially impervious to laser ablation—屏障層包含的物質(zhì)大體上(or 實(shí)質(zhì)上)不會(huì)被激光切除 b. tablet has a substantial surface and a second substantial surface—錠劑有一實(shí)質(zhì)表面和第二實(shí)質(zhì)表面 6. preferred, preferential，可譯成"優(yōu)選" 7. those skilled in the art——所屬領(lǐng)域的技術(shù)人員 those of ordinary skill in the art——所屬領(lǐng)域的技術(shù)人員 8. methods known in the art——此項(xiàng)技術(shù)中已知的方法 9. are well known——已為我們所熟知 10.these include, but are not limited to——其包括(但不限于) 11. alternative embodiment——替代(具體)實(shí)施例；另一實(shí)施例 alternatively——或者；另一選擇為 12. aspect 可譯成"方面"、"觀點(diǎn)"及"特點(diǎn)"，例如: in one embodiment of this aspect—在此方面的一實(shí)施例中 in one aspect—一方面 in a further aspect—另一方面 in still a further aspect—另一方面 13. 請參考以下的譯法: it should be noted—請注意 it is to be noted—應(yīng)注意的是 it is expected—我們預(yù)期 it will be appreciated—應(yīng)了解 it is understood—當(dāng)然 it should be understood—請了解；應(yīng)了解 it is intended—希望 例如: Although, in principle, it is intended that all of the isocyanate functionality of the polyisocyanate be reacted, it should be understood that 100 percent complete reaction cannot always be attained.—雖然原則上希望所有聚異氰酸酯的異氰酸酯官能度皆可反應(yīng)，但應(yīng)了解100%完全反應(yīng)并非總能達(dá)到。 14.在一長句中須視需要將長句加以分割或組織，例如: The housing device of this generic type for accommodating at least one circuit arrangement, in particular a power semiconductor module or the like, has housing areas which are designed for the arrangement of, in particular, live contact elements and which each provide a number of arrangement positions for this purpose. 這種通用普通類型的外殼器件至少用于裝填一個(gè)電路裝置，特別是電源半導(dǎo)體模塊或類似物，在該外殼器件中設(shè)計(jì)有外殼區(qū)域，該外殼區(qū)域尤其是用來放置帶電的接觸單元，并且其每個(gè)都提供有多個(gè)此類放置位置。 15. based on weight 的譯法，例如: a.
